Darkspyre IRC is a native macOS IRC client. This page is here to help you get the most out of it — and to get in touch if something isn't working.
When reporting a problem, it helps to include your macOS version, the app version (Darkspyre IRC → About), the IRC network you were connecting to, and what you expected to happen.
Click the + next to Servers in the sidebar, enter the
server address (for example irc.oftc.net), choose a port (6697 for TLS),
pick a nickname, and connect. You can save multiple servers and set any of them to
connect automatically at launch.
Once connected, type /join #channelname in the message box, or add
channels to a server's auto-join list in its settings so they open automatically.
Yes. Darkspyre IRC supports TLS, SASL authentication (PLAIN and EXTERNAL), and client-certificate (CertFP) login. These are configured per server in the server editor.
Incoming DCC file offers appear in the Transfers panel, where you can accept, decline, or cancel them. Completed files can be opened or revealed in Finder directly from that panel. You can choose your download folder and set trusted servers to auto-accept transfers in settings.
Darkspyre IRC is localized into nine languages and follows your Mac's language settings automatically. To force a specific language for just this app, open System Settings → General → Language & Region, and under Applications add Darkspyre IRC with your preferred language.
